Ohio State names Alexander & Schuss as 2013 Men’s Lacrosse Captains

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Dominique Alexander and Logan Schuss will serve as captains for the 2013 Ohio State men’s lacrosse squad, Nick Myers, Buckeye head coach, announced Thursday. The tandem was selected after a vote by their teammates.

“These men have dedicated themselves and exemplify what Buckeye lacrosse is all about,” Myers said. They are confident in their abilities and committed to leading the 2013 Buckeyes both on and off the field. I look forward to working with them as we strive to accomplish all of our team goals.”

Alexander, a midfielder and native of Baldwin, N.Y., was a second team All-ECAC pick in 2011 and is a four-time league player of the week. He has played in 45 games as a Buckeye, starting all but one, and enters his senior campaign with 66 points, including 38 goals and 28 assists. He had a career-high 23 points in 2012 and a personal-best 16 goals in 2011. A physical education major, Alexander is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-ECAC and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Schuss, an attackman from Ladner, British Columbia, is a two-time All-American, garnering honorable mention accolades as a freshman and third team honors as a junior. He is a three-time first team All-ECAC selection and was the 2012 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and the 2010 ECAC Freshman of the Year. Schuss enters his senior season tied for fourth in Ohio State history in career points (165), tied for fifth with 102 career goals and tied for eighth with 63 career assists, including a team-high 57 points and 39 goals a season ago. Schuss, a physical education major, is a three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-ECAC and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

The Buckeyes have wrapped up their fallball slate and are now into off-season workouts. The team will open the regular season Feb. 9, 2013 when it hosts Detroit inside Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

US Lacrosse Awards Physical Education Equipment Grants
